About
Gr8tStep was founded on the belief that meaningful change begins with greater understanding and clarity - by noticing how we are in the world.
I came to this work by an indirect route. I spent more than thirty years in corporate and leadership roles, building and leading teams across public, private and charitable organisations. What I valued most in that career was not the work itself but watching colleagues grow in confidence and capability, and reach goals they had not thought were available to them.
That led me to train formally as a coach and mentor. Alongside it, a long-held love of sport and physical wellbeing led me to qualify as a personal trainer. But in both coaching and fitness work, I kept meeting the same thing: underlying difficulties that needed something deeper than either discipline could offer on its own. So I trained as a counsellor, completing an MSc in Therapeutic Counselling at the University of Greenwich.
Drawing on all three strands, my practice offers an integrative approach that adapts to the individual. My commitment is to thoughtful, compassionate and evidence-informed support that helps people better understand themselves and move toward self-compassion, growth and renewal.
My Values
Compassion · Integrity · Growth · Renewal · Partnership · Authenticity · Curiosity · Respect · Courage
All work operates within the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions and the EMCC Global Code of Ethics for coaching and mentoring.
Guiding Principle
The practice is never about the therapist. Personal experience informs the work but does not become the focus of it. Your worldview, goals and lived experience remain at the centre of every session.
Training & Accreditation
Supervised therapeutic practice with adults, online and face to face, at Wilfrid's House. Volunteer roles have included The Listening Place, supporting people experiencing suicidal thoughts and emotional crisis; Family Friends; Age UK; St Mungo's; and Crisis at Christmas.
Every person has a unique story. Understanding creates awareness; awareness brings clarity; clarity creates choice; choice enables meaningful and lasting change.
