Therapeutic Counselling
A confidential space to understand yourself more fully - your story, your patterns, and the choices available to you.
Many people seek support because they feel stuck, overwhelmed or uncertain about themselves. Some experience persistent self-criticism; others struggle with confidence, relationships or major life transitions.
Often, the ways we protect ourselves began as understandable responses to earlier experiences. While these strategies may once have served an important purpose, they can sometimes prevent us from living in the way we would like today.
The aim is not to remove those protective strategies, but to understand them with curiosity and compassion. Through greater awareness, you are supported to make informed choices about which ways of relating continue to serve you, and which you may wish to change.
Counselling here is integrative, which means the approach is tailored to you rather than drawn from a single model. My practice is informed by Clarkson's Five Relationship Model, and I offer both shorter-term and longer-term work.
I have supported adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, low self-esteem, relationship challenges and suicidal ideation. I also have experience working with neurodivergent clients, including those with ADHD, autism and OCD.
Although every person's story is unique, many share a desire to understand themselves more fully and to develop a kinder, more compassionate relationship with themselves.
Talking therapy is exactly what it sounds like - a structured space to talk, with someone trained to listen closely and help you make sense of what you're saying. It isn't about being told what to do, or handed a diagnosis. It's a collaborative process of exploring how you think, feel and relate to yourself and others.
It helps because most of us rarely get this kind of attention. Putting difficult feelings into words, with someone who won't judge or rush to fix them, tends to loosen their hold - patterns that felt stuck or automatic become easier to see, and easier to change.
You don't need to be in crisis to benefit. Talking therapy suits anyone who wants to understand themselves more fully, whether that's working through something specific or simply wanting the space to think out loud.
